Free Training for Community and Voluntary Groups - Wednesday, 7 December 2011 - 11.00 am to 1.00 pm

The Review of Public Administration (RPA) was announced in November 2007.  Plans included reducing the number of councils and handing over planning powers from the DoE to them.  The Planning Act was agreed by the Assembly earlier this year.  It provides for the transfer of planning from the DoE to the new district councils when they are set up. To prepare for this, some major changes to how planning operates now have already been made. 

To help all community groups understand these changes, Rural Community Network and Community Places are offering free training on the proposed new planning system and changes that have already been made as a result of planning reforms.  This training session will look at some of the changes that will be introduced including:

• pre-application consultation on major planning applications;
• changes to the publication of planning applications; and
• bigger fines on enforcement.
