Community Places Wins Irish Planning Award for Plan Making
Community Places has been awarded a prestigious Planning Award by the Irish Planning Institute (IPI) for Plan Making
Community Places received an award from the Irish Planning Institute at last night’s Irish Planning Awards ceremony held in Clontarf Castle, Dublin for our work on the Tullycarnet Place Shaping Plan 2035. This is a landmark achievement as we proudly became the first organisation (public or private) from Northern Ireland to receive an Irish Planning Award in the 50-year history of the Institute.
A unanimous decision by the esteemed judging panel recognised the Tullycarnet Place Shaping Plan 2035 as exceptional plan making. The Tullycarnet Place Shaping Plan 2035 was a community-led place shaping plan that sets out the community’s vision for Tullycarnet. The plan looks at the regeneration potential of the area over the next ten years and focuses on social, economic, community and environmental issues.
At the heart of the Place Shaping Plan was the wider community of Tullycarnet. The community and its involvement and ownership of the Place Shaping Plan was a core objective of the plan making process. Significant efforts were made by the project team to ensure there was wide ranging public participation and engagement, reaching out to those harder to reach groups such as young people, older people and young women.
The Irish Planning Awards were held on 25 September 2025 in Clontarf Castle, Dublin. There were 80 applicants from all around the Island of Ireland. The shortlist for the 2025 Planning Awards featured 55 nominees across 12 categories.
We are absolutely delighted.
