Belfast Community Planning Consortium has convened two seminars exploring practical elements of Community Planning: 

Workshop 1 - Monday, 14 November 2011 from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm (The Mount Conference Centre, Woodstock Link, Belfast) - a case study of best practice in engagement in the development of Derry/Londonderry Regeneraton Plan;

Workshop 2 - Tuesday, 22 November 2011 from 10.00 am to 12 noon (City Hall, Belfast) - an interactive session outlining the planning cycles of statutory agencies (with contributions from Belfast City Council, Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and Belfast’s Local Commissioning Group).

A Community Planning Model for Belfast

Belfast Community Planning Consortium will present its Community Planning Model at three workshops in to be held in Belfast in November 2011. Two of these are aimed at those working in the community and voluntary sectors and will provide an opportunity for participants to influence the emerging Community Planning Model for Belfast. The workshops will be held on Tuesday, 8 November 2011 from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm in Farset International (466 Springfield Road, Belfast) and on Wednesday, 9 November 2011 from 10.00 am to 1.30 pm in the City Hall.

Free Planning Training for Community Groups

Community Places is inviting all community groups to an update on the planning system. This session will be held on Thursday, 1 December 2011 from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm and will give an overview of the many changes that have taken place this year, including:

  • The new Planning Act;
  • planning policy proposals;
  • the new rural design guide; and
  • changes to permitted development rights.

We will also provide information about the changes that we expect next year and the support that Community Places can offer to community groups to help them prepare for this. PEACE III Strategic Grants Programme 2011-2013

Belfast City Council's Good Relations Partnership is now seeking applications for funding to support peace and reconciliation projects as part of the Strategic Grants Programme in the Belfast PEACE III Plan 2011-2013. Information sessions will be held on 26 October 2011 (City Hall) and 9 November 2011 (Ulster Hall) from 10.00 am to 12 noon - email to register to attend a session.

Social Investment Fund Consultation Events

OFMDFM's recently launched consultation on the Social Investment Fund will run until Friday, 23 December 2011. The Fund consists of £80 million over a four year period and its strategic objectives are to support communities to:

  • build pathways to employment;
  • tackle the systemic issues linked to deprivation;
  • increase community services; and
  • address dereliction.

OFMDFM has now arranged a series of public meetings in order to hear your views (on the proposed operation of the SIF, including options for applying to the Fund, application and assessment criteria, how the Fund should be managed and the structures to support its delivery). The events will be held on the following dates:
